Alexander and Björn Land in the Eagle Nest

On September 2nd, another two founding members of Crew 42, Alexander and Björn Johnson, joined the ranks of Eagle Scout! Please join us in congratulating our newest Eagle Scouts.

Here is a little background on how they got there:

Alexander Eagle Portrait

Alexander Johnson bridged to Troop 718 as a Pack 718 Arrow of Light Scout in March 2015. He attended National Youth Leadership Training and Quarterdeck training, and has served as a Patrol Leader, Den Chief, and Instructor with the Troop as well as a Storekeeper, Crew Leader and Purser with Sea Scout Ship 16.  He earned the Den Chief National Service Award by serving Pack 718’s Den 3, the Nova Whoosh! award, the Paul Bunyan Woodsman National Awards as well as some National outdoor awards. He is a member of the Order of the Arrow and has hiked and boated over 100 miles, camped over 119 nights, performed over 74 hours of service to the community, earned 47 merit badges (5 Eagle Palms) and was accepted to work at Camp Emerald Bay prior to the quarantine closure. Alexander’s Eagle Project benefited the Redondo Beach Elk’s Lodge where he renovated the ladies’ powder room by repairing water damaged walls, removing an unwanted doorway access, repainting the room and upgrading the vanity. He is currently a Junior at South Torrance High School and plans to remain active with the Troop as the Junior Assistant Scoutmaster, as well as pursue the Sea Scout rank of Quartermaster.  Along with his brother, Björn, they helped create Pacifica District’s Venture Crew 42.

Bjorn Eagle Portrait

Björn Johnson bridged to Troop 718 as a Pack 718 Arrow of Light Scout in March 2016.  He attended National Youth Leadership Training as well as the National Advanced Youth Leadership Experience at Philmont Ranch.  He has served the Troop as a Troop Guide, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, Patrol Leader, Den Chief and Senior Patrol Leader, and is currently the President for Venture Crew 42 and Vice Chief of Elections for the Order of the Arrow Lakota Chapter. He earned the Den Chief National Service Award by serving Pack 718’s Den 3, the Nova Whoosh! award, the Paul Bunyan Woodsman National award, as well as some National outdoor awards. He has earned 44 merit badges (4 Eagle Palms), hiked over 100 miles, camped 98 nights, and performed over 85 hours of community service.  His Eagle Project benefited the Redondo Beach Elk’s Lodge where he created a memorial wall to recognize all the members who have passed away over the last 100 years. Björn is a Sophomore at South Torrance High School and plans to remain active within the Troop as well as continue leading Venture Crew 42.
