Tomorrow night, Thursday, January 31st, we will be meeting at the North
Kitsap Pool. Our meeting will start in their upstairs room from 7:00 to
8:00 pm then we will move to the pool for swim tests from 8:00 to 8:30.
Swim tests are required for almost all of our water based activities. Our
cost to use the facility is only $12.00, there is no per person use fee
involved. Please remember to pack a towel along with your swimsuit. By
holding this test early in the year, it will give those who may not be

All youth and adult participants are designated as swimmers, beginners, or
nonswimmers based on swimming ability confirmed by standardized BSA swim
classification tests. Each group is assigned a specific swimming area with
depths consistent with those abilities. The classification tests should be
renewed annually, preferably at the beginning of the season.
Swimmers pass this test: Jump feetfirst into water over the head in depth.
Level off and swim 75 yards in a strong manner using one or more of the
following strokes: sidestroke, breaststroke, trudgen, or crawl; then swim
25 yards using an easy resting backstroke. The 100 yards must be completed
in one swim without stops and must include at least one sharp turn. After
completing the swim, rest by floating.
Beginners pass this test: Jump feetfirst into water over the head in depth,
level off, and swim 25 feet on the surface. Stop, turn sharply, resume
swimming and return to the starting place.
Anyone who has not completed either the beginner or swimmer tests is
classified as a nonswimmer.
