Let me echo what the Advisor urges..and add that VLST is now mandatory for
all direct-contact adults (read: Advisor and Associate Advisors).  Committee
members and even unregistered parents should invest their time to attend it.
Unlike your previous experience in the younger phases of Scouting (Cub
Scouts, Boy Scouts, the various levels of Girl Scouts), Venturing is a much
different program.  Yes, it shares the same three goals as in all of
Scouting: Character, Citizenship, and Fitness.  However, the methods are
very, very unique and are NOT the same as the others.  Go to VLST and find
out!  It will help keep the Crew strong and your Venturer will appreciate
it!

Dear Venturers,

 

On Saturday, September 22, Orca District will be offering Venturing Leader
Specific Training (VLST). This course will be taught by Crew 1042's very own
Jeff Zantek and Mr. Taylor. Now I'm sure many of you are thinking, "VLST is
for adults, why would I want to take it?". Well I'm here to tell you that
VLST is for all Venturers (especially officers) and Crew Leaders. It's
important for you come and learn what they're teaching the adults so that
you youngins can keep us old folks in our proper places.

Fellow Scouters,
We are offering an additional adult leader training session for Scout,
Varsity and Venturing Leader Specific training. This satisfies a portion of
the training requirement for Scoutmasters, Assistant Scoutmasters, Coaches,
Assistant Coaches, Advisors and Assistant Advisors.

Training will take place at the Central Valley LDS Church on Central Valley
Road in Poulsbo. See attached brochure for details.

September 22, 2012
- Arrival 8:30 to 9:00 am
- Opening 9:00 am = All Attendees together
- Scout Leader Specific 9:00 to 5:00 pm (with breaks)
- Varsity Leader Specific 9:00 to 5:00 pm (with breaks)
- Venturing Specific 9:00 to 5:00 pm (with breaks) 

No Cost (bring a lunch)
No Preregistration required

Silverdale Lutheran Church
