Out-of-District Registrations

FYI - please see the e-mail below. -- The *Sinclair* District (that's
most of Bremerton, Port Orchard & N. Mason) will hold its annual Merit
Badge Clinic on 28 and 29 December. They opened registration TODAY to
units outside of the Sinclair District, so I'm passing the information
below on to you in case your unit's Scouts may be interested in signing up.
This year they have included some STEM/NOVA award-related classes as well
as a few badges that we have not often seen at merit badge clinics -- some
are new this year. Examples are: Welding, Search & Rescue, and Crime
Prevention. ****

** **

Please take note that registration has been open to Scouts in the Sinclair
District for a couple of weeks and some classes were already 70% full as of
yesterday, so any Scouts who are interested will need to sign up soon!
Also, some important registration instructions and helpful hints are
included in the e-mail below.****

And, as a reminder, the Orca District's Merit Badge Clinic
(January-February) is scheduled to open on Wednesday, 5 December. Orca
District Scouts will have a few weeks to register before registrations from
other districts' Scouts will be accepted. Another notice will be published
to all District units when the Orca Clinic's registration website is open.**

Fellow Scouters,

Online registration for the Sinclair District merit badge clinic in Port
Orchard is open to all scouts on Saturday. The classes will probably fill
quickly (Sinclair has been registering for 2 weeks and the classes are about
70% full) so please get this out to your units so they have a chance to get
involved. Several badges are being offered that I have never seen at MB
clinics: Welding, Search & Rescue, Snow Sports and Crime Prevention. We are
also having two 'STEM/NOVA-Shoot!' classes being taught so the youth can
earn that award as well as several STEM related badges.

The parents will need to make a profile on www.meritbadge.info in order to
sign up their boys, once a profile is made they need to find the "2012
Sinclair District Merit Badge Clinic" on the event list (Start date 12/28)
and then sign up.

Information on registering, as there has been some confusion. On the website
go to sign in and you will be on a screen where you can make a new profile.
Click and follow all the prompts. The confusing part is when you get to
information that is optional but not specified as optional. So career
information and BSA Id and youth protection date is all optional. Also don't
get confused when you see leader/adult/parent is pre-checked just leave it
as is. Go to the bottom of the screen and make a password. At that point you
are done.
