[Don't Panic!] Annual Planning Meeting 8/18

Crew,

THIS IS A VERY IMPORTANT EMAIL, PLEASE READ.

In less than a week, Crew 1042 will be having our annual planning meeting!

Every year, we get together to put together the calendar of events for the
next year along with deciding upon the following summers superactivity. A
superactivity is a week long trek of some sort. In the past we have gone
sailing on a Sea Scout Ship, gone kayaking in the Canadian wilderness, gone
on a Philmont Trek, and this past year, we went backpacking in Marmot Pass!
Keep in mind, during the 2013 summer, there will also be the National Scout
Jamboree.

Please bring your family, school, sports, band, and any other calendars you
have so that the crew events do not interfere. Also, bring your parents!
They have a say in what superactivity we do and we always enjoy their
company.

We will be starting promptly at 2:00, so please be a little early. You may
be asking, "Why so early?"
Along with having our meeting, there will also be a potluck! The Karren's
will be providing burgers, so please bring a side dish or two 2-liter
bottles of soda. To make sure we have a balance of drink and food, please
call me at 360.434.2015 to coordinate what everyone is bringing. To get a
head count, please sign up on the Facebook Event for the meeting on the
Crew's Facebook group. The address for the Karren's house is 27827 Gamble
Bay Rd NE, Kingston, Washington, 98346. This is a very important meeting,
so don't miss it! If you can't make it, send your parent.

If you are planning to run for a crew office in September, your submission
form is due at this meeting. Officer applications are on the Crew website,
www.crew42.org under the files and forms tab. YOU MUST SUBMIT AN
APPLICATIONSTO RUN FOR A CREW OFFICE. The positions available will be
President, VP Administration, VP Program, and VP Communications. At this
meeting, we will be proposing on whether to have a VP Finance. The idea of
a VP Finance was introduced by the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) which
was written by the National Venturing Youth Cabinet. To add the position of
VP Finance, we must change our Crew bylaws. The proposal to change will be
presented at the meeting on Saturday and will be voted for approval or
disapproval of the position at the September meeting. If you would like to
find descriptions for these positions, google is your friend. Elections
will be at the September meeting, so please be prepared and present. When
you have the opportunity, please thank the past years officers for their
service to the Crew.
