Congratulations to Ryan O, the 12th of Crew 1042's Venturers to be awarded his Eagle Scout rank.  Among the youngest Eagles in age, Ryan has a robust and adventurous tenure that includes staffing at Wood Badge last year as well as serving this past summer at Camp Pigott as a certified COPE instructor.  COPE is an acronym for Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience.  Also known as a Ropes Course, it is a challenging outdoor personal development and team building activity which usually consists of high and/or low elements.  Low elements take place on the ground or only a few feet above the ground.  High elements are usually constructed in trees or made of utility poles and require a belay for safety.  COPE teaches teamwork, communication, trust, leadership, decision making, problem solving, and self-esteem.

Ryan's father Tom and older brother Adam (also a veteran of the Crew) are both Eagles.  All are co-registered with Crew 1563 in Kingston, chartered by their church.  Welcome to the nest!
