Our own Zack T was recently selected as the 2011 Eagle Scout of the Year for the American Legion's Department of Washington.  He will be formally recognized for this prestigious award which includes a $1000 college scholarship on Saturday, July 16th 2011 in Spokane, Washington.   He will also now compete for the National American Legion Eagle Scout of the Year Award and Scholarship which will be announced in May 2011.  A junior at North Kitsap High School, Zack is serving as the Crew 2010-2011 President and is a Philmont vet.

Zack is also a Brotherhood member of the Order of the Arrow, Sahaptin Mox Khan-nice Chapter of the T'Kope Kwiskwis Lodge.  He hopes to attend the US Coast Guard Academy in New London, the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, or the University of Montana in Missoula.  He is a avid soccer and tennis player and is on the varsity team for both sports at North Kitsap High School.

To be eligible for the Award, you must earn your Eagle Scout rank, a God and County award for your specific faith, and be a member of a Scouting unit that is chartered by an American Legion Post.  This last requirement can be substituted if your father or grandfather is an active member of the American Legion.
