Congratulations to Jeff from Crew 1042 in Chief Seattle Council, who was awarded both the Western Region Venturing Leadership Award and the Area One Venturing Leadership Award for his superb service. Jeff was both the Area Vice President of Communications and the Western Region Web Communications Chairman for the Venturing Officers Association for 2011-2012. He designed and established the Regional website www.wrventuring-bsa.org with its unique links to calendars and pages for each of the six Areas in the Region, including calendars, charts/maps, and pages for each of those groups. The high adventure pages provide up to date information for outdoor programs available to all Venturers across the west. What's best is that the site is entirely maintainable by the youth in each Area. This is Jeff's final year as a Venturer and he hopes to transition to a greater role after he completes his undergraduate studies. An Eagle Scout with 8 palms, he completed several Bronzes, his Gold, and Venturing Silver Awards. Jeff is also a Venturing Ranger, and earned his Trust Award, the only in his Council and Area. He is a Vigil Honor member of the Order of the Arrow and a veteran of the 2005 National Jamboree and represented the BSA at the 2012 Central American Rovering Moot in Panama. He's been a Course Leader for the National Youth Leadership Training, the first Venturer ever to serve in that position. He also earned his Wood Badge beads and wants to eventually staff a course as a Troop Guide. Jeff worked at Philmont Scout Ranch the past two summers and is a Liturgist at Poulsbo First Lutheran Church.
