Crew 42 serves the Kitsap Peninsula in Western Washington State, and has members from four different school districts and six colleges.  Blessed with an outdoor paradise that includes the many trails in the Olympic Mountains and the waterways of Puget Sound, we like to trek on foot and afloat. Our Crew is completely run by the youth, from the activity planning stages through execution.  Adults are only allowed to help and support, and are not permitted to lead.  Don't think of us as "an older Boy Scout Troop with girls", but part of the finest and fastest-growing Scouting program in the world.  The Crew is entirely governed by the youth in accordance with the Venturing Oath:

As a Venturer, I promise to do my duty to God and help strengthen America, to help others, and to seek truth, fairness, and adventure in our world.

...and the Venturing Code:

As a Venturer, I believe that America's strength lies in our trust in God and in the courage, strength, and traditions of our people.  I will, therefore, be faithful in my religious duties and will maintain a personal sense of honor in my own life.  I will treasure my American heritage and will do all I can to preserve and enrich it.  I will recognize the dignity and worth of all humanity and will use fair play and goodwill in my daily life.  I will acquire the Venturing attitude that seeks truth in all things and adventure on the frontiers of our changing world.

Venturing is a youth program for young adults in high school and college that provides leadership and service opportunities in a friendly and adventurous environment.  Venturing’s purpose is to provide positive experiences to help young people mature and to prepare them to become responsible and caring Americans.  Our program is designed to build character, promote citizenship, and develop personal and mental fitness. The objective is to plan and conduct both social and high adventure activities that are fun, challenging, and test individual skills and teamwork.  Most of all, it's about the crazy things we do when we're backpacking, sailing, whitewater rafting, kayaking, and kicking it in the outdoors.
